Snake Alley

Often when I ask what can I do at a destination, I get the normal resp0nses where to eat, the well known tourist attractions… so you can imagine my surprise when I was told,

“You can check out Snake Alley”

“Huh? like are there a bunch of snakes or something?”

“I don’t know.”

Whenever I travel I always try to find out about the unique and different so when I am 80, I can say I have been there

It is a vanity issue.

I had no clue what snake alley was, so I of course went to my trusty google, because I was not about to walk into a situation with a ton of snakes.

Snake Alley is a street located in Burlington, Iowa once recognized by Ripley’s Believe It or Not as the Crookedest Street in the world

So of course I was like heck yeah count me in.

The street is beyond easy to get to (especially when you are not driving).

If you ever find yourself in Burlington Iowa I suggest you go ahead and drive the fun little street.

One of my favorite things

One of my favorite things hobbies is thrift store shopping it is also a way I make money to travel and do things I love.  I will share that with you someday, but I am still working on the perfect formula and not quite there yet.

Anyway, imagine my surprise when I discovered an awesome thrift store 2 miles from my job.

I often bring my lunch to save money but I need to often escape work, so one day I decided to go thrifting and see what I could either

A: Find to make new or;

B: Sell for extra cash (I do want to hike the Inca Trail next year after all)

When I found

So I ventured inside and found something I haven’t seen in awhile, a “true” thrift store. A lot of thrift stores have jumped on the “Let’s be Green” bandwagon and have shaped their store to be more of a boutique instead of a store that you have to dig to find treasures.

This is one with true thrift prices and one you have to dig to find treasure. I loved it.

My favorite find?

thrift store 1

Sadly I passed on buying it and it is now long gone, but  I am about to have a crazy busy month and really didn’t want to spend the money on me, unless it was something I needed liked shorts.

This shop helps raise money for Plano Community Charity and the shop is ran by volunteers.

Want to volunteer or shop? The shop is located at

2436 Avenue K
Plano, Texas 75074

Here are a few of the pics I took, I used my cell so they may not be the best quality but they are good enough to show what a gem this store is.

Are you a thrift store lover?

Happy Earth Day!!!!

Here at Cubicle Escapee, one of my biggest dreams is to get out and celebrate this amazing planet we live on! So today I figured I would share some “earthy” photos!

Remember we are borrowing this land from our children so take care of it!

Fun reminders on how to be greener!

1. reduce, reuse, recycle
2. Find ways to re purpose old things into new fun things!
3. Don’t throw away any old items, donate them, to someone that could use them!
4. bring your own bags
5. Don’t water your yard in the middle of drought season, it drains the lakes!

Enjoy my fun photos from this beautiful planet!
