Seventeen year old Lisa Brown’s life is falling apart. First, her mother and father divorce, then their house forecloses and now, her mother has decided to commit herself to a psychiatric hospital.

If that weren’t enough, she must leave sunny south Florida to attend a boarding school full of geniuses in cold, Lynn, Massachusetts. The city where the locals chant “Lynn, Lynn, city of sin; you never come out the way you went in.”

And, they aren’t kidding. Lisa must live in a tiny shack with two strange teenagers, a dog named Pig who growls when you look at him and a cat named Rat. “Mind the cat,” everyone says. What the heck is wrong with this place?

Lisa thinks she’s landed in her own house of horrors with the anti-social Alex and his facetious sister Ally. But, the real drama begins the day she is struck by lightning…

My Review: Real TALK.  I loved this book, in fact I couldn’t put it down.  I was relaxing in bed in Mexico and started this book and quite simply I could not and would not put it down.

I loved Lisa and I loved how the plot twist and turned until the big reveal happened.  I mean part of the reveal you saw coming but I guess not at the magnitude it occurred.  This book was a ton of fun.  PS Lynn Massachusetts is real.  ROAD TRIP!!!!!

The dynamic between Lisa, Alex and Ally was very real and at times frustrating.  Eventually it all makes sense but there are times I wanted to strangle all three.  I mean how can you be that catty???  That being said eventually it all comes together and you are like oh man, what fun.  The side character are quirky and give this story the depth that a reader craves.  Overall this was a very fun page turner that you really need to check out…

Time’s Divide by Rysa Walker

Summary: The Cyrists are swiftly moving into position to begin the Culling, and Kate’s options are dwindling. With each jump to the past or the future, Kate may trigger a new timeline shift. Worse, the loyalties of those around her—including the allegiances of Kiernan and the Fifth Column, the shadowy group working with Kate—are increasingly unclear.

Kate will risk everything, including her life, to prevent the future her grandfather and the Cyrists have planned. But, when time runs out, it may take an even bigger sacrifice to protect the people she loves.

I am not going to review this book, because I am worried I will spoil it, and I don’t want to spoil any of the books if you have not read them but I will say this book is AMAZING and so fast paced.  This is the third and final book so if you have not read this series go do yourself a favor and do it.  Now.

This book is probably one of the best time travel books I have ever read.  Time travel is done so well in this book and it does not confuse you at all! Love this series.  I am so sad it is over.

Plus I am going to be honest if you want to travel the ENTIRE world in one series, this series is for you. She goes everywhere throughout time in this series.

Fight Like A Girl (Part One) by Dawn Pendleton

Set in:  Massachusetts
Summary: **This is a 3-part novella series**

MMA is no place for a girl – unless that girl is Max Brady. Growing up around the ring as the daughter of a famous fighter, she finally takes her place in the MMA world after her father’s mysterious disappearance. Deciding to fight was the easy part – she never imagined finding a good trainer would be her biggest obstacle.

Kingston Lawrence was a rising star in the MMA world, until a knee injury forced him to the other side of the fight. He thought three rounds in the ring was hard, but nothing compares to the battle of training and taming Max. Her sexy body makes up for her sarcastic mouth, and it isn’t long before he wants to be more than just her trainer.

But Kingston has a secret, one that could ruin both their lives. He can train Max for a fight, but nothing can prepare them for what happens when that secret is revealed.

I love fighter romance, but this one is different because the fighter was female.  I love when authors write a strong kick but lead in their novels.  Max is a no nonsense type of gal and if she was real I would be her friend.

This book has a serious cliffhanger and I really can’t wait to see where this story goes.  This book is short fast paced and a very easy read.  I really can’t wait for part 2.

Also what is Kingston’s deal??? You will not find out in this book but hopefully we find out soon!  Keep them coming Pendleton!

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard by Rick Riordan

Magnus Chase

Set in: Massachusetts
Summary: Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother’s mysterious death, he’s lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers.

One day, he’s tracked down by a man he’s never met—a man his mother claimed was dangerous. The man tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god.

The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years.

When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision.

Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die . . .

Riordan has done it again.  I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see where the series is going to lead.  I have a love of all things Norwegian and well it doesn’t get more Norwegian than Odin, Thor & Loki right?

Fans of Percy Jackson will love this new series brought by the best selling author.   I just hate that I am so far behind in reading that it took me over a month to read this book.  This book is well paced and everything you expect from a Riordan novel.

Magnus Chase is going to be a great hero, I will say this was a slightly darker feel than the other two series by Riordan.

I found the characters likable and the plot thick with a few twists and turns that will keep you up on a work night.

This was a fun, fast paced book and I am sad I have to wait for the next book.
