Vanished (Callahan & McLane #1) by Kendra Elliot

Summary: When eleven-year-old Henley Fairbanks is abducted on her way to school, the FBI doesn’t waste a moment, sending agents to scour the area and embedding Special Agent Ava McLane with the distraught family. In the eye of the storm is local detective Mason Callahan, who also happens to be related to Henley. To make matters worse for Mason, the kidnapping comes on the heels of the murder of his longtime confidential informant, and he’s been sidelined from the investigation. Now both he and Agent McLane are holed up in the Fairbanks’ home, along with Callahan’s ex-wife, Robin. Every second counts in a kidnapping case, and the stakes keep rising the longer Henley stays missing. As Ava and Mason struggle to hold the Fairbanks family together in their darkest hour, the two investigators find themselves more and more drawn to each other.

My Review: This book was fantastic and an unexpected pleasure. I love when I find a new book on Kindle Unlimited that I love.

This book was crazy good, as in I was barely able to focus at work while listening because it kept me needing and wanting more… every minute I listened. Seriously can I get a thank you Kindle Unlimited for providing all of these audio books?

See the thing is mysteries are a guilty pleasure of mine, almost as much as fighter romance books are a guilty pleasure of mine.

This book had some predictable bits but overall it did in fact keep me guessing. I liked the dynamic between the two characters and the rotating perspectives. Very very good.

Staked by Kevin Hearn (Iron Druid Chronicles #8)

Summary: When a druid has lived for two thousand years like Atticus, he’s bound to run afoul of a few vampires. Make that legions of them. Even his former friend and legal counsel turned out to be a bloodsucking backstabber. Now the toothy troublemakers—led by power-mad pain-in-the-neck Theophilus—have become a huge problem requiring a solution. It’s time to make a stand.

As always, Atticus wouldn’t mind a little backup. But his allies have problems of their own. Ornery archdruid Owen Kennedy is having a wee bit of troll trouble: Turns out when you stiff a troll, it’s not water under the bridge. Meanwhile, Granuaile is desperate to free herself of the Norse god Loki’s mark and elude his powers of divination—a quest that will bring her face-to-face with several Slavic nightmares.

As Atticus globetrots to stop his nemesis Theophilus, the journey leads to Rome. What better place to end an immortal than the Eternal City? But poetic justice won’t come without a price: In order to defeat Theophilus, Atticus may have to lose an old friend

First let me say I love how the Iron Druid chronicles take you ALL over the world within 300 pages. Second I freaking love LOVE LOVE this series. I can’t get enough of this series. I love how much this book makes you turn page after page, and if you listen to it on audio like I do… you will love Oberon. 🙂 If you have not read the previous 7 books I recommend you get started. This book has my stamp of approval but I don’t want to review it for fear of spoilers but go read it… stat.

Ash (Hive Trilogy #1) by Jaymin Eve & Leia Stone

Are you an Ash?

*Increased stamina
*Lack of appetite
*Anger outbursts
*Insatiable thirst
*Beauty & Strength

Call the hotline if these symptoms come on suddenly!

Turns out Charlie Bennet was all of those things except the last. Don’t let the name fool you, Charlie was all woman and she wanted nothing to do with the ash … until the day she found out she was one.

It all started when infected bats bit a small group of humans and created what are now called vampires. Then, the male vampires knocked up some female humans and the result was a gorgeous race of all male ash. Superhuman freaks that had looks to kill.

Charlie is the first female ash, aka unicorn of the Hive – the gated compound in Portland that the humans have designated to isolate vampires and ash from society.

Problem? The Hive is full and only a select few will be allowed to live there. To live at all, really. If Charlie wants to earn the right to become a citizen of the Hive, she will have to survive the culling – a series of fights to the death. And guess what? Just because she’s a girl doesn’t mean she’ll get special treatment.

Good thing there’s Ryder, the mysterious lead ash enforcer, who seems to always have her back. But when secrets bubble to the surface, it will take more than one guy to save her.

My Review: SO I am just going to put this out here, I am disappointed that book 2 is not out. When I was looking for a book to read I was wary of this recommendation on Kindle Unlimited, I was like “oh hunger games for vamps” lame.

Well listen here kind friends, this book is far from lame. This book is nonstop action that had me tapping my kindle to the point I was sure I would break it.

I never expected to find my first book for my 2016 favorites shelf on January 1. Never.

Yes there is a whole “battle to the death” gladiator games thing that has been done, but it is done differently here. The main chick is a no nonsense chick you will start pulling for immediately. Hell she will make you want to get off the couch and go for a run. I mean I didn’t go out for a run or anything but I sure as hell thought about it.

This book for whatever reason made my heart pump it inspired me… it was just damn good.

Which is surprising cause I am tired of hunger games knock offs and I am tired of vamps, but I can tell you I don’t think the second book will come out fast enough for me. I really enjoyed this book from page one to the very end. I was so damn disappointed I couldn’t download the next book.
