My Drug Store Beauty run

I got a great compliment yesterday, that my eye makeup looked fantastic.   I found this compliment pretty amusing because I bought a bunch of cheap drug store make up the night before… and that is what I had on.

I love when I find cheap make up basics and the result in compliments.   I will admit it, I am pretty vain.

I am not a make up expert at all, in fact up until my recent job I NEVER wore make up,  but now in an effort to look professional well I wear it.

Anyway, if you are looking for cheap basics I recommend these.  I am still trying to decide if the mascara makes my lashes look 80% longer but I do like how it stays put and it doesn’t clump.

I have always bought Wet & Wild eye liner so I just grabbed my two normal colors, black and golden-brown (eye liner was the reason I was at the store in the first place) as I was walking out I came across the Elf matte lipstick.  I bought in in neutral because I have found that light neutral colors tend to work with my very pale skin.

Overall, these are great affordable drug store finds that you should add to your make up bag.   As always they are cruelty free and some are vegan.  #winning

Weekend Buy List

Last night, I evaluated my nightly beauty routine and decided it was time to change a few things… mostly add a wrinkle night cream and an eye cream.   I am also on the hunt for a nightly toothpaste that is cruelty free.   I did my research and these are the items I found.   I have been wanting to buy the Alba Even Advanced night cream for quite some time so I will be adding that to my bag.

I love e.l.f shadows so I think I will give this eye cream a chance.  Plus I am a sucker for the word illuminating.  I mean I want illuminating eyes.

I am constantly looking for a cruelty tooth paste that  brightens my teeth and keeps my breath fresh.    Still looking… I struggle with this but I found this one and I am hoping it will do the trick.

Have you tried any of these products?   Do you have suggestions?

Product Review: Yes to Blueberries

I love when I discover a new product from my favorite cruelty free brands.

So the reality of my life is I turn 35 this week… which is half way to 70… which means I really need to use age defying products now. 🙂

That being said I am always on the hunt for great affordable cruelty free products that take care of my skin. I have started working again so I am back to wearing make up (gasp) so I do need a daily routine that keeps my skin from breaking out but keeping it young fresh.

I think I have found a fabulous day cream. I am still on the hunt for a night cream. Although, YOU CAN use this product at night too.

I found the texture of this product smooth and the smell is pretty fresh. Thankfully no burning (yes to carrots some of the products have a tingling sensation that turns my skin pink).

I am not sure but I even think my skin tone has a dewy texture right now but that might be the make up? ha!

Overall I give this an A on the Jen’s Beauty scale. It is super affordable and very easy to apply. Plus it uses natural products and is cruelty free. Give this one a go, it is never too early to worry about anti aging products. Click the link and you can order it now.

Product Review: Pearlessence | Cucumber Water Face Mist – 8oz

Here is the back story as to why I purchased such an odd product.   Flash back to a month ago… I was on the Great Wall of China, huffing and puffing and realizing once again I am on ANOTHER adventure and 100% out of shape and not able to enjoy it the way a fit person could.

So I get back stateside and well I realize it is time to hit the gym and get in shape, because well HOW the hell am I ever going to be able to hike the Inca Trail in the current shape I am in.

I am currently working at a major retail chain when I came across this product and came across this product and thought “hmm, a cooling spray that will allow me to spray on my face after a work out”

It was 4 bucks so I figured why not.  It is hot as hell in Texas and now that I am back to working out on a regular basis I figured it couldn’t hurt, plus it has my trusty cruelty free label (which is my one criteria when it comes to beauty products) so I figured I would try it.

So here I am telling you this product is fantastic for what I use it for.  After I work out and get in car I spray a few squirts on my face and it is instant cool down, plus my skin feels moisturized.  I love the clean crisp smell and I look forward to spraying this on my face.   I will use this during the hot summer that is fast approaching.

As far as other benefits?  I have found that my skin often feels moisturized after I use this product and any workout redness I might have quickly disappears after I use it.  That could be from my body just cooling down in general, but I figure this product doesn’t hurt that.

So the real question, would I buy this product again?  Yes.  I would.  I recommend looking at some of your discount retailers… IE, TJ Maxx, Marshall’s… etc as they might have it on hand.  Otherwise, I do feel it is worth the $20 price tag.
