I am not even going to pretend like I am an expert at saving money, expert at getting in debt? Sure, but saving money, no not really. I am seriously trying to change my behavior and get my shit together so I can travel long term, but I have to get out of debt first.
That being said, I read travel blogs every. single. day. They help me get through my cubicle jail time, I have a job where I do a lot of investigative work so thankfully I can read articles that inspire me to keep swimming. I realistically can’t start saving hard core until next year, but that doesn’t mean I can’t read about people that have taken the plunge and have done what I dream of doing.
So I am going to share with you every post that has inspired me in some way. Most of these are blogs that I read on rotation and they are the ones that are living or have lived the dream, so please check these blogs out. I am posting their money posts, because truthfully that is what I am reading most right now but they offer a wealth of knowledge on everything else too 🙂
So without further ado, the blogs that I read when I need inspiration
-Confession: I don’t know Kate but man I feel we could be kindred spirits… how she felt before she left her job to travel is how I feel now, I love how she lived in very expensive Boston & was able to accomplish her goal. I live in the very cheap state of Texas and based on what she said her salary was… I know once I get my debt paid off I can do this too. She is very inspirational.
-I love the no nonsense guide on how to save money, it is laid out in black and white and will help you look at your budget to see what costs you can cut to get ahead and save money to get on the road. The tips are practical & helpful.
-When I realized this was something I wanted to do, back in 2011 (a crying shame I am just now getting serious about it) this was the very first travel blog I discovered, I still communicate with her today and she really is an amazing writer with a more amazing heart.
-The same day I discovered A Wandering Sole I discovered Never Ending Footsteps because of this post. What is great about this blog is not only is she hilarious, she breaks down what she has spent every single month of travel. I have followed her every step of her trip (when I found her she hadn’t left England yet) so when I say that seeing her journey and how much she has spent has been fascinating.
So there you have it 4 blogs that have done what I want to do, and believe me this is not it… there are 100s and I do mean 100s of people that have taken a trip of a life time. I will share more in the future but I just wanted you to know that I am not crazy, anyone can do this, you just need a dream and some motivation.
