Summary: Dante Sinclair never cared about his family’s money. All the young billionaire ever wanted was to be a cop; and now that he’s a homicide detective in Los Angeles, he’s a damn good one. But when he is injured and loses his partner in the line of duty, he returns to his vacation home in Amesport, Maine, to recover.
Sarah Baxter, a brilliant young doctor still struggling with her stifled upbringing, has recently moved from Chicago to sleepy Amesport to escape her past, hoping to find peace. When Sarah is assigned to Dante’s case, there’s an instant heat between them. They couldn’t possibly be more different, yet their igniting passion is impossible to ignore. As new feelings awaken within Sarah, her haunted past returns, threatening her once again. But can Dante overcome his grief and discover the secrets Sarah is hiding in time to protect and rescue her?
My Review: This was a really light and fluffy romance novel. I enjoyed it completely. I loved how Dante was not an asshole and treated everyone like a jerk but suddenly changed his ways for the love of his life.
People liked Dante from the beginning and that was refreshing. This felt like a realistic love story to me, well realistic in the sense that a billionaire fell for one of us mere mortals. 🙂
Although technically I am still waiting for my billionaire to still show up. I suspect I will be waiting for a very long time.
This book did have a little insta-love action but overall it did not feel forced which was very nice. I was pulling for them almost immediately and I will read the next book in the series so I wasn’t turned off too much, plus this book lead right into the next book 🙂
Overall this is a very cookie cutter romance, but it is still great writing and great writing is always enjoyable.
