I just signed up for my first 10k… what HAVE I done?

This year has been interesting, I have been looking for things that I have always wanted to do that I can do right here from the great state of Texas.  Some of my bucket list items that are not travel related… read 200 books in a year, run a marathon, learn to surf, go vegan….

All of these are things I am debating trying this year because I can’t really “See the Eiffel Tower”  so when I was trying to determine what else I could accomplish this year, the idea of a marathon came to mind.  I have toyed with running a marathon for years and I just realized that I don’t really have shit else to do, so why not?

Since I started doing hot yoga and eating 75-80% a vegan/vegetarian diet my energy has skyrocketed.  In fact, I am almost starting to have insomnia because I feel so wonderful I stay up in the evenings.  I am still waking up refreshed in the morning, but overall I think it is time to really focus on eating even more vegetarian and vegan meals & to really start exercising where I burn calories and become well more fit.

Lately I have really been trying to take a more holistic approach to life and so far I am very happy with the results.  I feel better, people compliment my skin & I am actually nicer.   Endorphins, they are pretty magical. 

So anyway, I digress. 

I am running my first 10k, so I start training asap.  My goal?  Just to finish it and not meet a hot doctor in the hospital because I collapsed.   I mean don’t get me wrong I am willing to meet a hot doctor, but not because I collapsed because I didn’t train properly.

I hoping the training for this race fuels me to keep training and hopefully be able to complete a marathon at the end of the year.  We will see.

Any tips?  I can use them.  Also if you are in the area come run with me!
