First let me start off by saying, for whatever reason I just can’t get my life under control these days. Texas Travel girl is down and out, can’t get it back up and running, and I just can’t get caught up on here with my posts.
I of course blame my cubicle.
Anyway, I am about to go out of town a lot in September, so needless to say if I don’t get caught up soon… well I am going to be in a mess 😉
Anyway, while I was at SDCC, I stayed on twitter as much as possible, so when I saw the opportunity to get into the Nerd HQ Maze Runner panel I retweeted what they asked me to.
Within 30 minutes I found out I won.
Now when it comes to the movie, I didn’t really know much about who was cast in it, but I do know the book, and know that I love the book. In fact follow the author on twitter, because I enjoy his books & tweets for the #DashnerArmy.
So when I found out I won, I was pretty excited.
However I was not nearly as excited as the young girls that actually bought the tickets.
Dylan O’Brien… Let me start of by saying I have NO CLUE who this kid is… but believe me the 150 plus girls in here did and thanks to that I felt old. Since I have turned 30 I have never felt old, until I went to this panel.
Sure he is cute… but I am 30… and I don’t even know if he is of legal age… so I am not going any further than that. I will let the teen girl in your life tell you about him. I promise she knows who he is.
The panel was great, and I feel in love with the Nerd HQ atmosphere. The panel was pretty much Q&A and conversational. If I go back to SDCC next year, I know I will buy more Nerd HQ tickets. The atmosphere is refreshing from the chaotic wonderful mess that is SDCC plus the money goes to a great cause. Win Win.
As a fan of the book, I was very interested in hearing and possibly seeing the Grievers. For the record we didn’t see them because I am pretty sure they girls just wanted to hear about Dylan, but hey I was a teenage girl once, and I just went with the flow.
However, at the end of the panel the cast left, then came back and showed us a very raw and uncut footage of the film.
and let me just say… it looks AMAZING, and that was the raw uncut footage. I can’t imagine what editing will do.
I know what I will be doing on Valentine’s Day.
Also I do want to share, that while I was in the AC watching this panel, my parents & little brother snagged passes to see Escape, the world Premier film that stars Stallone and Schwarzenegger.
So not only did this panel make me feel old as hell, I missed a chance to be up close with two amazing action stars but that is the nature of the choosing at SDCC a choice will make you miss out on something else awesome.
Note: the panel pictures are not great, because for some odd reason I could not get the ISO to work on my camera properly… so just pretend they are some amazing award winning pictures that being said, don’t worry ladies… The pictures are very yummy from the the Joe Manganiello panel. 😉 Now him… yeah I felt very much young at heart… Stay Tuned.
