Book Review Sunday

Graceling meets Beauty and the Beast in this sweeping fantasy about one girl’s journey to fulfill her destiny and the monster who gets in her way-by stealing her heart.

I am a sucker for a good retelling of one of my favorite fairy tales. This is a very dark and gothic retelling of Beauty and the Beast.

I was quickly swept up in this book, the story is beautiful and it is romantic. I am not a fan of romantic stories, but I am a fan of this romantic story.

I found myself loving Nyx, she is not the typically “Beauty” in fact she is gritty, she is dark, she is angry. I loved it. She is half of a set of twins, she is the twin chosen to die and she is not happy about it.

In fact, unlike other fairy tales, she is PISSED at this, she doesn’t want to accept it. Which is why I loved her. Her feelings are authentic.

Ignifex is one charming little demon. I am not easily schmoozed by characters, and this one schmoozed me right over. I am normally anti male characters. I think a lot of times female characters loose themselves when it comes to a male character. Well needless to say I am so prop Ignifex I am ok if that would have happened… Not saying it did… but I am not saying it didn’t either.

Overall this book is proudly going on my favorite books of 2014, list thus far. This book has a little bit of mythology thrown in just to make the story that much more complex and fantastic.

If you are like me and love retelling of classic fairy tales, go read this book. Like now.

I proudly give this book 5 AMAZING stars.

Breakfast at Chef Mickey’s

Confession.  I don’t really care fore breakfast.  Yes I know it is the MOST important meal of the day, but I am not really a breakfast food person.  When I do eat breakfast, my breakfast of choice is fruit and the occasional waffle.

That all being said, I will enjoy breakfast when I can meet the beloved Disney Characters.

So given that circumstance, I do like breakfast at Chef Mickey’s.  I did not take any pictures of the actual breakfast, because I was more excited about meeting the characters.

If you are reading this because you are researching the option, here is what I remember.

The breakfast is buffet it includes traditional breakfast choices of pancakes, mickey waffles, fruits, yogurt, bacon, eggs etc.  It is all you can eat, and it is pricey.  You are of course paying for the meet & greets.

The characters take turns going from table to table and you have the opportunity to take photos and get autographs if that is your thing.

All of the kids that were around me appeared to be having a blast, and that is of course the best part of the breakfast 😉

Here are my pics from that meal.

Also keep in mind it is a great meal if you are celebrating something! You get a cupcake!

Wordless Wednesday

Book Review Sunday

I am kinda feeling Disney right now, and feel the need to share a Disney “themed” book with you. I say “themed” because this book is in NO WAY endorsed by Disney.

Today’s book is

OK everyone, let me just say I love this book, and it is a five star book for me.

I am going to give you the following warnings

1. Again this book is not endorsed by Disney.
2. This book is very ummm crude. There are “talks” of sex, drugs, and a whole lot of illegal activity
3. This book is for people who love reading ALL aspects of Disney, even the crude ones.
4. This book is graphic.

OK sounds like a funny book you would like to read? Keep reading on.

I laughed so freaking hard throughout this book. Every page I was laughing at some story the author told. Let’s face it everyone the very polite and professional cast memebers are HUMAN, and given that they partake in some very HUMAN behaviors.

This author’s love for Disney has made him partake in some crazy funny stories.

There is also a story about the rumored Disney Jail. hmmmm….

All I can say is we all know Walt had a sense of humor, and I think he would have cracked a smile over some of the stories… (well maybe not about how to go to Disney for free…)

I loved this book, and I enjoy reading “stories” from the park, and while this is not the happy go lucky stories we hear from the park… I think it is still pretty funny.

READ WITH CAUTION. Like I said, this book is not for everyone.

If you are with me, let’s go Booze our Dole Whip 😉
