So today I am interviewing Ashley Nemer who is not only a close friend of mine but an amazing author as well! For stopping buy today you have the chance to win either the Blood Series or The Maverick Series by this awesome author!
So let’s jump write into this interview!
Ashley you know how much I love your books, but I have to know how did you come up with the titles of The Blood Series?
Haha – I hate when I am asked this because it is such a lame story, lol. Purple is my favorite color, and its a book series with vampires as the stars … seemed to just fall together at the Blood Purple point. Then when it came for Blood Yellow and Blood Green I had to follow suit to keep consistency. So I picked the colors of the ‘main’ characters (Nikole Zayn and Nasir/Leigh) and simply rotated the others.
Blood White – well – they say the color white is a combination of all colors so I thought, what better to title the catch all of my series than Blood White. Because in this final book it literally has every single book and bits of story line inside of it.
It was a perfect fit to me.
So what books are you reading now?
Hmm that’s hard to answer because I am reading a lot! Because I do reviews on my blog I am reading a new book every 4 days or so. So maybe to answer this question what am I reading by choice now?
Well the husband is forcing me to read OUTLANDER. I’ll admit .. I am having a bit of issues getting into this book. But I was told it starts slow and then grabs you so I will give book 1 a chance. I just finished The 9th Girl by Tami Hoag (my author hero) and loved it of course! And I just finished Greed in Pararadise by Deborah Brown. I have reviewed a few of her books in the series by request but after reading Murder in Paradise for my blog review I went out and instantly bought the newest release because I am just in love with this fun mystery series.
Do you have any plans to travel to Lebanon?
I have always had plans to travel to Lebanon, Germany and Ireland since I was a child. All there of these places hold my heritage. But since I started writing my urge to go to Lebanon, the Middle East and Egypt has spiked tremendously.
Will I ever make it? I hope so!
My blog is centered around escaping the cubicle, what do you do to escape?
I am an avid reader – I love reading more than watching TV and going to Movies. Between the reading and writing it allows me to escape whatever reality I am looking for a break from.
I also love camping and have been dying to go camping forever…(hint hint to the hubby))
What advice would you give to aspiring writers?
NEVER GIVE UP! No matter what feedback you get, what you think of your work or what anyone says. Because here is the thing … everyone’s first book is crap. Deal with it, just is what it is. That’s when we make our most mistakes.
But never giving up — that’s the most important thing because the second book, third and so on, they WILL be better. I promise you.
In Maverick Touch, Mr. A was Nadia’s own personal ninja, do you have a personal Ninja?
I have a ‘Semi-Ninja’. My hubby has taken some martial arts and likes to call himself a Ninja so, yes, I have my own personal Ninja. However, I’d like to think I am my own Ninja as I am a 2nd Degree Decided Blackbelt in the American Taekwondo Association.
Where do you draw your inspiration for your books?
Honestly? Emotionally charged events. Good or bad. I write the best after a very emotionally bad fight or amazingly wonderful moment. And you can tell what kind of day I was having based on my writing, or at least anyone who knows ‘me’ can.
I don’t plan out my book, my characters write themselves so inspiration isn’t something that I look at a photo and draw something from. I sit at the computer and escape my reality by writing.
Do you have any writing rituals?
I have a writing song play list that I listen to over and over. Mostly it consists of Les Miserables soundtrack and Eminem. I thought in a little Backstreet Boys & Savage Garden.
I know … it’s an odd collection
Tell us three facts your fans DO NOT know about you?
-I am deathly afraid of Ants .. like omg .. you have NO IDEA
– I can hold my own with shots. I hate drinking with a glass or container. Its because when I was in college at SHSU I was petrified that I would end up with an MIP so I mastered the art of shot taking.
-I love gore in books but HATE IT in movies. HATE!!!
Tell me about your ideal fictional boyfriend?
Jenn – you’re gonna hate this but a nice controlling Alpha Male who will push a woman up against the wall, tell her how its going to be, and then take her right then and there.
Yeah – love me some Vane & Stryker (From Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter Series)
Anything you want to share with your readers?
I think I am in my best element writing as Niki Becker. I think she lets me be more free and I am able to explore different literature in writing because she isn’t “Ashley”.
